Wave combines features from email, instant messenger, Google Docs, wikis, and forums and throws its own spin on things. For a quick visual of its offerings versus similar tools, check out this feature-by-feature comparison table.

You’ll notice that Wave doesn’t have a green yes in every cell in its column; it’s still missing functionality that’s holding it back from being a viable alternative in a production environment—specifically, user permissions (everyone can edit everything) and the ability to export a wave or publish it so that anyone can see its contents (not just folks logged into Wave).

This table is slated to go into chapter 1 of the first edition of The Complete Guide to Google Wave, so give me a shout if you’ve got ideas for how to polish it up before we rev up the printers.

The mere promise of Google Wave inspired a rainbow of potential use cases, but Wave’s best real-world use boils down to this: it helps a group get things done together. Here’s how to manage a group project in Wave.

Note: If you haven’t gotten your Wave invite yet, check out our invitation donation thread first (or, better yet, keep an eye out for the same thread this Friday). If you have gotten into Wave, search for title:"Invite others to Google Wave" to find the wave with your invites. Wave’s only fun if your cohorts and workmates also have it, so give out your nominations to the people you want to wave with.

Wave’s invitations have been rolling out steadily over the last few weeks, so you and your co-workers might have already gotten some Wave love. If so, let’s take a look at how you can manage a project in the real world, even given Wave’s current unfinished state.

Background: Over the last two months, I’ve co-managed a large-scale group project with a team of six people in Wave: the production of Adam’s and my new book, The Complete Guide to Google Wave. We didn’t write the book in Wave, mind you—but we did manage the project in Wave, where we collaborated on everything behind the scenes, from the book’s style guide, to its pricing plan, and to iterations of its cover design. Whether you’re writing a book or planning a weekend trip, here are a few techniques you and your workgroup mates should know that make Wave a great project management tool.

Shared Tags and Saved Searches

To keep all the project-specific waves into a single bucket, the first thing all the members of your group should do is agree on a project-specific tag. Unlike email folders or Gmail’s labels, Wave’s tags are visible to all wave participants, like Flickr or Delicious tags. So if you decide your project’s tag is “Vacation plans,” everyone tags project waves the same and can find waves based on that tag.

To easily see if there are new updates on the project’s waves, save a search for the tag. In this case, search for tag:”Vacation plans” and click the “Save Search” button on the bottom of the search panel. (You can even assign a color to the saved search for some visual flair.) Once that’s done, you have a project-specific “inbox” (so to speak) in the Searches area of the Navigation panel.

In the screenshot at the top of this article, you can see that for the book project, the agreed-upon tag was “cwg,” and in my Wave client, it was colored gray.

You can even break down project tags even further by combining them. For example, you could tag waves specific to hotel research “Vacation plans” and “hotels.” Then, a search for tag:"Vacation plans" tag:hotels will narrow down the results further. Here’s more on saved searches and Wave filters.

Choose to Reply Below a Blip, Inline, or Edit the Blip

Unlike email, where you can either reply to an entire message or chop it up into quotes and reply inline (which is a tedious and manual process), in Wave you can do either of those things—OR just edit the message that someone else wrote, as if it were a Google Document. This ability to co-author a single message and see past revisions of that message in one place is what sets Wave apart.

In a public wave situation where anyone can edit anything that anyone else has written, it can be total chaos (see, for example, the Lifehacker public wave we tried out with readers). But within a trusted circle of co-editors, revising a single blip together—and having the option to have threaded inline conversations about that content as well—makes getting work done much easier.

For example, if someone asks a series of questions, others can reply inline like email (but more conveniently). But if someone’s drafting a document and needs help filling in the holes and keeping it updated, others can just dive in and hit the Edit button, like Wikipedia. In the screenshot here, you can see a message that has had two authors (Jon and me) but also contains inline replies.

Wave’s three modes of interacting with and editing content—replies, inline replies, and co-editing blips—makes its collaborative abilities in a single context very powerful. Here’s more on the three ways to update a wave.

Private Replies

Sometimes in a group conversation, you want to direct a private reply to a single member or subset of a group about a larger issue—and Wave makes that very easy. Inside the context of a single wave, you can click on the timestamp drop-down and choose “Private Reply” to say something to a subset of that wave’s participants that no one else can see. This ability comes in extremely handy whenever someone has something to add that’s only meant for a few people’s eyes. These private conversations with you appear inline on the wave that everyone else can see—so it can feel weird, like you’re talking behind the backs of others but right in front of them—however, not everyone can see the private back-and-forth in wave. Playback and Wave Forking

Since Wave is more a document collaboration tool than an email replacement, its contents are living things that go through a series of change and revisions over time. Wave’s playback feature lets you move forward and back through those revisions. If a wave has changed too much, and you want to restore an older version of it, Wave makes that possible. While you’re in playback mode, in an older revision, from the timestamp drop-down, choose “Copy Wave” to create a new wave that contains that old revision. (Currently you can’t restore a wave itself to an older version of itself; you have to copy that version to a new wave.)

Helpful Bots, Gadgets, and Add-ons

There are tons of Wave bots and gadgets out there, and the ones that will help with your project depend on what you’re doing. But there are a few that could help in almost any situation.

The XMPP Lite Bot: One of the issues with adopting Google Wave into your workflow is the whole “yet another inbox” problem. If you’re working on a project in Wave but forget to check it every day, you can get notifications of wave updates via IM. The XMPP Lite bot can GChat you as project waves get updated. To use it, add the bot to your contacts (its Wave ID is wave-xmpp@appspot.com), and then add that same contact to your GTalk contacts list. Add the bot to any wave you want IM notifications from, and click the Subscribe button.

The Yes/No/Maybe Gadget: One of the simplest and most useful Wave gadgets available, the Yes/No/Maybe gadget makes asking a simple question of a group and tallying responses dead-simple. To use it, type a question into your wave that has the possible answers, Yes, No, or Maybe. Then, click on the Yes/No/Maybe button on your Wave toolbar. (It’s got three small boxes—green, red, and yellow.) Then, wave participants can just click on their response and add a little note by clicking the “Set my status” link.

Here are a few more great gadgets and bots for Wave.

Google Gears and a modern browser (or a plug-in for IE): The advantage of using a web application is that you don’t have to install software other than a web browser onto your system to access it. That advantage comes with some caveats in Wave. Google Gears, the browser add-on that ships with Chrome but that you have to download and install for Firefox and Safari, isn’t required for Wave, but adds essential functionality: the ability to drag and drop files into Wave. The bad news for Mac users is that Gears is still(!) not available for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard (why, Google, why?) and it doesn’t come with the Mac build of Chrome, either. However, if you’re on a PC and you want to easily share files in Wave, you need Gears. (In fact, Wave is speedier and more stable in Google Chrome than Firefox and Safari, so if you’re on a PC it’s worth using Chrome for Wave.)

Additionally, Wave doesn’t play nice with vanilla Internet Explorer. Since it relies on new and emerging web technologies that IE doesn’t support yet, if you try to access Wave in IE, you’ll get prompted to use another browser or use the Chrome Frame IE add-on. This might throw a wrench into your plans to collaborate with co-workers in IT lockdown, without the ability to install an alternate browser or IE add-on on their office computer.

While Wave doesn’t have classic project management tools like to-do lists or Gantt charts built-in, it’s great for project-specific real-time messaging and collaborating. (Plus, to-do lists and more are no doubt on the way in the form of Wave extensions.)

Omnifocus was inspired from the get-go by GTD: It was designed to make the steps of the GTD process—quickly “capturing” to-do items whenever they occur to you, triaging them to decide when and how they should be done, reviewing what’s been done and what’s left to do—easier. It also uses some GTD nomenclature—next actions, contexts and projects. You don’t have to follow the GTD method to use OmniFocus—but OmniFocus does make it simpler to implement that method with your Mac and your iPhone.

The first result of the new partnership is a white paper entitled “OmniFocus, GTD, and You: Implementing the Getting Things Done Methodology with OmniFocus,” which is available as a free PDF from the Omni Group and David Allen Company sites.

Where does the time go? Whether you need to know for billing purposes or just want a better idea of how your work day is split up, you can always answer that question with a good time-tracking application.

Whether you’re an old veteran of time tracking and are curious to see alternatives to your current system, or you’re new to the premise and curious to see what kind of apps people use, we’ve got five solid tools to showcase.

Klok (All platforms with Adobe AIR, Free)

Built with Adobe AIR, Klok is a lightweight and cross-platform tracking solution. You can create a hierarchy of projects and sub-projects in the task-management sidebar and then track the time spent on each by dragging and dropping them into the workflow for the day. While you can delve into the details of each block of time, simple adjustments like expanding the amount of time you’ve worked on a project is as easy as grabbing the edge of the block with your mouse and tugging it down.

Manic Time (Windows, Free)

One area of resistance many people have to using time tracking software is a fear that they’ll waste too much time actually plugging information into the system. Manic Time alleviates that fear by actively tracking what you’re doing on your computer to make tagging and analyzing your daily work flow simple. Your day is represented by three time lines: Activity (either on the computer or off), Applications (which were open), and Tags (your personal annotations to your work flow). Mousing over any of the three time lines gives you additional data about that moment on the time line and you can always pull up the statistics window to see your work patterns over time. SlimTimer (Web-Based, Free)

SlimTimer is a web-based tracking solution. Once you’ve signed up for a free account, you can begin creating new tasks you want to track. You track those tasks by flagging time you spend on them in the little pop-out time manager you see in the screenshot above or by keeping the SlimTimer web site open. You can add tags to your tasks in the management section of the SlimTimer site as well as share tasks with coworkers. If you’re concerned about using a web-based tracker and losing control of or flat out losing your data, you can export your time-tracking data or even have SlimTimer email you a backup once a week.

RescueTime (Windows/Mac, Free)

RescueTime aims to be the least intrusive time-tracker you’ll use. Rather than have you log each individual activity you do in a journal-style system, RescueTime monitors the web sites you visit and the applications you use. You can set goals in RescueTime based on a variety of factors, like how much time you want to spend doing certain tasks or how much time you want to dedicate to certain projects. RescueTime analyzes your computer usage and reports back to you on whether or not you’re meeting those goals. RescueTime takes a different approach from most time-tracking tools, so we’d definitely recommend reading their FAQ file for additional insight into how they handle time tracking.

Project Hamster (Linux, Free)

Hamster is a simple time-tracking tool for Linux-based systems. You enter tasks as they occur, and then you can categorize and sort them. When you’re done with a given task, you simply tell Hamster to stop tracking it. You can also set up a reminder system that will remind you to record what your current activity is every X number of minutes. One of the more interesting features of Hamster is the ability to shift how your day is defined. If you’re a night owl and do most of your work after hours, Hamster won’t slice your “day” in half at midnight just because the clock says it’s a new day.

Project Management je mojou súčasťou v každodennej práci. Pretože som minulý rok definitívne switch-ol na Mac, potreboval som software, ktorý mi bude plne vyhovovať pri väčších projektoch. Osobne som na začiatku skúšal OmniPlan a Merlin. Koncom Augusta som objavil pekný článok o Project Management Software for Mac na www.mujmac.cz od Lukaša Gregora. V príspevku Lukáš Gregor píše a porovnáva aplikácie Projector, Merlin a OmniPlan. Ja osobne preferujem OmniPlan. Všetky aplikácie od The Omni Group sú krásne s minimalistickým design-om a focusom na intuíciu, prehľadnosť a content, teda aby ste vždy videli to, čo práve potrebujete vidieť.

Na to, jak efektivně nakládat se svými projekty, může postačit i funkční práce s kalendářem, v tomto článku se však zaměřím na programy, které se hodí již na projekty mnohem náročnější. A to ve smyslu většího počtu dílčích kroků, obsáhlosti materiálu i spolupracovníků, stejně jako (ve většině případů) delšímu časovému horizontu mezi startem a ukončením projektu.
Nabídka takových programů je solidní natolik, abyste si mohli vybrat takový, který vám co nejvíce sedne. Dopředu je však nutno počítat s tím, že zadarmo takovou aplikaci nepořídíte. Má-li splňovat opravdu to, co si pod pojmem project manager vývojáří představují, částky se šplhají až ke dvěma stům dolarům. Existují i levnější varianty, ale pěkně postupně…

Úvod – co aplikace dokáží?
Ve stručnosti můžeme funkci všech recenzovaných programů popsat jako schopnost zaznamenávat projekt, jeho části, a to se všemi náležitostmi, které k managementu patří. U aplikací Merlin, OmniPlan a Projector si tak můžete rozepsat (a vždy dodatečně vepisovat) kroky, které je potřeba realizovat, abyste splnili nějaký větší úkol, projekt. Může jít například o vedení časopisu na jeden rok, produkční plán výroby televizního pořadu, ale také stavba rodinného domu a úprava zahrady. Na vedení projektů existují tzv. time managementové metody (například Getting Things Done), projektové managery se od nich liší tím, že se neváží na vás samotné, vstřebávají do sebe nejen “pojem” času, ale také materiály, prostředí, v němž se kroky budou odehrávat – a v neposlední řadě vám aplikace usnadní orientaci při přerozdělování úkolů mezi tým lidí. Zjednodušeně řečeno, projektový manažer myslí především na ulehčení a kontrolu práce, time managementová metoda na to, abyste si kroky efektivně rozvrhli do svých dnů a týdnů.

Dát na první dojem?
Rozhodl jsem se vedle sebe postavit tři známé projektové managery, Merlin , OmniPlan a Projector . Dlouhý čas jsem s nimi jednotlivě pracoval a poté se pokoušel souběžně v každém z nich udělat tutéž věc, to aby komparace byla co nejpečlivější. Bylo zajímavé, jak se mé sympatie přelévaly od programu k programu v průběhu práce s nimi. Pokud bych měl dát na první dojem, bezpochyby by zvítězil Projector. Pro svoji intuitivnost, příjemný vzhled a takové nejvíce “macovské” vzezření. Naopak OmniPlan mi přišel takový nepřehledný (ostatně tak jako na první pohled působí většina aplikací od OmniGroup) a Merlin těžkopádný (tedy kromě jeho roztomilé ikonky).

Vzhled
Jak jsem již naznačil. Projector vás potěší, pokud se vám intuitivnost macovského prostředí zamlouvá a pokud si potrpíte na programy, které onu Apple jednoduchost v sobě obsahují a dokazují to nejen designem, ale i propojeností s vaším počítačem (např. AdressBook a iCal). Z Projectoru skutečnost, že je dělán pouze pro platformu Mac OS X, přímo čiší. Neotravuje vás přemírou ikonek a tlačítek. Při bližším seznámení zjistíte, že například spojovací linky mezi jednotlivými kroky v projektu můžete nadesignovat tak třiceti způsoby, stejně jako máte volnost při barevnosti kolonek. Ve výsledku to působí odlehčeně a příjemně – jako by spíše šlo o nějaké propagační letáčky, než o rozpracování dlouhodobé práce.

Když jsem však začal pracovat více s Merlinem, zjistil jsem, žei jeho strohost vlastně s Applem má něco společného a že se mi s ním nepracuje zle. Postupně jsem začal pronikat do funckí a poznávat, co které tlačítko udělá. Proces to byl delší, ale v jeho závěru jsem byl přesvědčen o tom, že mi Merlin umožní udělat více věcí – a přitom nevypadá nehezky.
OmniPlan jsem si nechal až na závěr. Přiznám se, že jsem se kdysi pracoval s OmniFocusem a dost dlouho jsem si na jeho prostředí zvykal (na GTD program jsem si vlastně zvykl zrovna, když mi vypršela trial verze a já se rozhodl pro koupi jiného, konkurečního programu). U OmniPlanu to začalo naprosto stejně, neboť i vizuální a ovládací řešení má s OmniFocusem velmi mnoho společného. Přednastavený font, velikost písma a barevné rovržení jako by říkalo, že tohle není legrace, nejde o zábavu, ale o práci. Pokud se vám chce, můžete si barvy a font libovolně změnit. Pokusil jsem se o to, ale… najednou jsem zjistil, že se mi vlastně původní nastavení líbí ze všeho nejvíce. Že i ta strohost má své oblé tvary, že i se mi v programu dobře orientuje a společnost OmniGroup myslela na to, abych před očima viděl vždy to, co je důležité.
Na co jsem si také zvykl (a co mě zpočátku velmi otravovalo), byly panely “info”, které oproti ostatním aplikacím “nevyjedou” v pravém boku (a zmenší tak např. náhled na časovou osu), ale otevřou se v samostatných oknech.

Ovládání
V podstatě jsem to předestřel již v úvodu, Projector disponuje jednoduchým uživatelským prostředím, pracovat se s ním naučíte rychle a stručný PDF manual možná jen prolítnete očima, nebo ani neotevřete. Vytváření nových úkolů, jejich propojování – a vůbec celkové ovládání tohoto softwaru je příjemné a většinu funkcí objevíte a naučíte se s nimi hned napoprvé.
Merlinův manuál jsem studoval pečlivě a celý. Věděl jsem totiž, že program asi nabízí poněkud více funkcí než Projector. Obdobně tomu bylo u OmniPlanu. Studium těchto dvou aplikací mi sebralou kousek života, přičemž u OmniPlanu je lepší výbava audiovizuálních nápověd (ostatně, OmniGroup je v tomto ohledu opravdu pečlivou firmou), což mi práci ulehčilo. Když už jsem samostatně s každým z programů obstojně uměl, porovnával jsem, jak se vypořádají s jedotlivými kroky, které člověk absolvuje, vytváří si (a obhospodařuje) svůj první projekt. Bylo pro mě překvapením, že u uživatelsky nejméně přívětivého (viz první dojem) OmniPlanu najednou spoustu věcí dělám intuitivně, vystačím si s přetahováním myší, vizuálně se v tom všem orientuju a není pro mě problém, kdykoliv cokoliv rychle změnit, upravit. Merlinovi začal docházet dech, zdálo se mi. Když si například nadělíte na stejný časový úsek mnoho pracovních povinností, Projectoru je to de facto jedno, Merlin vám graficky ukáže, že máte “přesmíru”, ale jediný OmniPlan vás na to nejen upozorní, ale i jednoduše nabízí (jedno tlačítko) možnost, jak si lépe práci rozvrhnout.
Pro tyto projektové manažery je podstatná funkce “resources”, kdy ke krokům přiřazujete lidi, kteří se do nich zapojí (a jak velkým podílem práce), a materiály a nástroje, které k úkolům budete potřebovat. Projector nabízí omezené možnosti a ani vizualizace rozvrstvení práce není zrovna všeříkající. Merlin a OmniPlan jsou na tom téměř stejně, jen s tím rozdílem, že mi vizualizace toho, co který člen týmu kdy má udělat, přišla přehlednější u OmniPlanu.
Jinak samozřejmostí je, že ve všech třech případech si můžete zadat k projektu rozpočet, pak taxu k jednotlivým lidem, a ve finále mít pod dohledem i financování svého projektu. V tomto případě paradoxně Projector nabízí nejlepší výstup, Merlin spoléhá na propojenost s aplikací Billings, která vám pak vytvoří i třeba faktury.

Výbava
Postupně jsem se tak začal klonit k Merlinovi a OmniPlanu, zjišťoval jsem totiž, že Projector je sice hezký, ale stále více věcí mu scházelo. A to se dostávám k výbavě. Při práci s OmniPlanem a Merlinem jsem totiž zakopával o další a další funkce. Například možnost stanovit si pracovní dobu, se kterou bude program počítat, pričemž OmniPlan nabízí i to, abyste si ke každému (bude-li to potřeba) člověku z týmu jeho rovzrh vyrobili, můžete také do něj zanést výjimky (např. státní svátky, dovolené), aby vás pak program upozornil na to, že daný úkol v ten den váš kolega nemůže splnit, a navrhne vám řešení. Tyto dva programy také lépe pracují s “kritickými mezníky”, lépe hlídají změny ve vašem plánu a také hrubý časový odhad, skutečný čas realizace a rozdíl mezi těmito časy. Nenabízejí sice tak stylově pěkné a barvité propojovací linky, zato automaticky mohou s kroky hýbat, chcete-li aby úkol č.3 a úkol č.8 spolu měl vazbu a oba končili ve stejnou dobu apod.
Projector mě na druhou stranu potěšil vkládáním “To Do” a “Event”, které se od kroků odlišují, přičemž aplikace vizuálně například ony události hezky do harmonogramu zanese a zobrazuje. (Samozřejmostí je spolupráce s iCalem).
Co se týče exportování projektu (či jeho částí), Projector toho mnoho nenabízí, soustředí se především na propojenost s dalšími Apple produkty (iWeb, MobileMe), ale projekt můžete přetansformovat i do obrázku. U zbylých dvou programů je škála široká, takže se vám určitě nestane, že byste z těchto speciálních aplikací nemohli svůj “výrobek” dostat ven.

Najdeme vítěze?
Nejprve k čistě subjektivním pocitům. Sympatie se mi přelívaly z jednoho programu na druhý, nejprve jasně vévodil Projector, pak se mi zalíbil Merlin a ke konci vedl OmniPlan. Jenže Merlin má i svoji verzi pro iPhone, což mě přiklonilo k němu. (Pak jsem však zjistil, že se to hodí vlastně jen tehdy, pokud chcete “exportovat” svůj projekt z desktopové verze do mobilní. Editovat na iPhonu můžete, ale musíte mít při tom sesynchronizované obě verze. Třeba se to ale časem změní.)
Když bych měl brát na zřetel cenu, asi bych se rozhodl pro nejlevnější možnost – Projector toho totiž za třetinovou částku nabízí hodně a pokud zrovna nejste manažerem firmy, určitě by vám měl vystačit. Pokud ale dáte na větší výbavu a tento elektronický způsob správy vaší práce vám vyhovuje, radil bych nešetřit a jít do dražších variant. Mé sympatie nakonec k sobě přitáhl (byť trochu s těsným výsledkem) OmniPlan. Hodí se to navíc i z toho důvodu, že pokud fandíte OmniGroup a vlastníte další aplikace této firmy, provázanost mezi programy vám jistě pomůže a potěší.

Našiel som screencast veľmi peknej aplikácie, ktorú som počas mesačného dema aj testoval. Zatiaľ stále používam aplikáciu Tracks, ale zvažujem prechod na Things alebo Omnifocus, samozrejme aj s aplikáciami pre iPhone. Malá ukážka práce s Things.

Za 20min sa dozvieš čo GTD je, prečo GTD vzniklo a čo ti môže dať. Ideálne pre niekoho, kto sa s týmto pojmom ešte nestretol. Odporúčam pozrieť.

Digit #29 Mějte svůj čas pod kontrolou, aneb jak aplikovat metodu GTD (Getting Things Done)

Tracks GTD looks great and is easy to get running as the installer even includes the WEBrick Webserver. The program runs smoothly on Windows and Mac operating systems alike.

There is a bit of clutter to get used to but nothing is so bad that it will get in the way of day-to-day use of the system. Everything looks very clean with functionality having obviously been placed as a priority of the design contributors working on Tracks GTD.

The homepage for the application isn’t too pretty but this shouldn’t be much of a deterrent for most users as it isn’t necessary to view every time the program is run.

Considering the level of in-depth coding which has gone into the Tracks GTD platform, the design does a great job of highlighting significant aspects of the program while stepping out of the way enough to ensure quick, smooth load times.

The interface hosts a lot of great features and represents a solid array of the organizational plans or tools set forward by David Allen in the Getting Things Done Methodology. Everything is extremely customizable, a fantastic trait for users who wish to play with the system and tweak it until it’s set up for the model that can provide them with maximum efficiency.

The system automatically refreshes new data entries and allows for quick updating of various categories and sub-categories (including GTD staples like Projects, Tasks, Next Action, and Someday/Maybe groupings) along with different geographical contexts (like at home, at computer, at phone and so forth).

Users can receive RSS, iCal and plain text feeds as well as highlighting and display options which pop-up tasks scheduled when they are chronologically relevant.

There is also a stat feature which displays your productivity over a set period of time through a visual display, a feature which isn’t really important but that still provides a bit of satisfaction for having achieved set goals and projects.

Some of the options are fairly unnecessary but, just the same, Tracks GTD doesn’t have any glaring flaws that should hold anyone back from giving it a try.

One of the best aspects worth mentioning in an overall review of the system is that of Tracks GTD’s ongoing development.

The open-source nature of the application makes it encouraging for feedback and new designs to be submitted to the Tracks team from those who have adopted the platform as part of their organizational process. This level of user interaction fosters a sense of community and encourages even better versions of Tracks GTD to be released in the future.

Organizácia času a práce je dôležitá pre každého z nás. Je absolútne jedno, či sa jedná o prácu, alebo súkromie. Čas plynie pre každého z nás rovnako. Tento článok/kategória je o mojej skúsenosti s GTD, kedy som začal cítiť potrebu niečo zmeniť, ako som hľadal riešenie a ako to nakoniec dopadlo.

Čas je pre nás veľmi dôležitý. Nemôžeš si ho kúpiť, alebo odložiť pre prípad nedostatku.
Preto je dôležité využívať čas efektívne a o tomto je GTD, o efektivite, produktivite a hlavne o čistej hlave a mysli, aby si sa mohol plne sústrediť na to čo práve robíš.

Pre mňa je táto oblasť veľmi zaujímavá a dôležitá. Myslím si, že v našich končinách má určite potenciál na rozvoj a osvetu. Reálna prax z meetingov ma každodenne presviedča, že mnoho ľudí by potrebovalo pár lekcií z tejto oblasti. Z tohto dôvodu zakladám ďalšiu kategóriu GTD pre túto oblasť. Určite tu bude veľa článkov na túto tému.

Od roku 2005 sa venujem profesionálne project managementu v IT/TELCO oblasti. Je to veľmi zaujímavá a dynamická oblasť, preto musí mať človek poriadok v čase, v projektoch, v úlohách a najdôležitejšie je mať poriadok v hlave a myšlienkach. Absolútnym základom je nadhľad, poznať/vedieť priority a v prípade potreby ich dynamicky meniť. Toto platí ako pre profesionálnu, tak aj pre privátnu oblasť života.

Pre začiatok určite odporúčam prečítať knihu GTD – Umenie byť produktívny bez stresu od Davida Allena. Po prečítaní, bude chvíľku trvať pokiaľ sa do toho dostaneš a začneš/skúsiš robiť veci iným spôsobom, jednoducho hľadať ten najvhodnejší spôsob organizácie práve pre teba. Odporúčam knihu prečítať opäť o pár mesiacov neskôr. Určite si v nej všimneš veci, ktoré si pri prvom čítaní prehliadol, nepochopil, alebo jednoducho nedávali zmysel. V knihe sa nachádzajú aj citáty múdrych ľudí a reálne skúsenosti s touto metódou.
